Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer photography and doula support/prenatal alignment visits to increase the chances of your birth going smoother.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through my contact form—I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

  • In addition to being a trained doula, I’m also a midwifery student and have attended over 70 births. I bring a calm, steady presence to birth spaces and feel very at home supporting both physiologic birth and situations that require flexibility. I have a lot of experience working alongside medical professionals and finding common ground if a transfer from home or a birth center becomes necessary—or if you’re planning a hospital birth from the start. My goal is always the same: everyone feeling supported, heard, and on the same team.

Photography is my other professional life (I like to say I have two very different—but oddly complementary—jobs). I currently work as a photo producer for a large international company, and my work has been published in multiple places. If you’re curious, you can see more at isabeljohansen.com. I bring this experience to capture motherhood photography - from pregnancy to birth and newborns.

  • You can reach me anytime via my contact page. I aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

  • All pregnancy and newborn sessions include access to a wardrobe stylist (because figuring out what to wear while growing a human is already enough work). Together, we’ll create mood boards tailored to the look and feel you want for your shoot.

Choose pieces that flatter you, and don’t underestimate the power of layers and texture—they photograph beautifully and add depth without trying too hard. I also love pulling inspiration from our surroundings, whether we’re shooting in your home, a garden, the mountains, or by the lake. The setting usually knows what it wants.

  • Collaborative, easygoing, and genuinely low-stress. You’re either in the middle of growing a human—or you’ve already done the very impressive work of bringing one into the world—and the last thing you need is more pressure. My role is to take care of you.

From wardrobe styling to hair and makeup, everything is thoughtfully handled so you don’t have to make a hundred decisions or feel “on.” All you need to do is show up, breathe, and let yourself be supported. I’ll guide you when needed, keep things moving gently, and make sure the experience feels calm, cared for, and even a little bit fun.
